An illegal immigrant man from Kenya has been charged with murdering 12 elderly women in Texas whose jewelry and other valuables he stole, authorities have said.
A spokeswoman for the Dallas County district attorney’s office, said Billy Chemirmir, a 46-year old former healthcare worker who had previously been charged with the capital murder of an 81-year-old woman, was indicted earlier this week for 11 additional murders of women ranging in age from 76 to 94.
Court records show that Chemirmir – a citizen of Kenya who had been living illegally in the U.S. – allegedly suffocated the elderly women with pillows before robbing them, according to The Dallas Morning News.
After Chemirmir was initially arrested, police told reporters that they had plans to review about 750 cases of unattended deaths of elderly women for possible links to Chmirmir, some of which had already be deemed as natural.
According to the Dallas Morning News – as of Tuesday – Chemirmir has been indicted in the deaths of Phyllis Payne, 91, Phoebe Perry, 94, Norma French, 85, Doris Gleason, 92, Rosemary Curtis, 76, and Mary Brooks, 87.
Chemirmir was also charged with attempted capital murder for supposedly attempting to suffocate two other women in Collin County, Texas. It’s also alleged that he attacked a 93-year-old woman in 2017 at a Frisco assisted living facility.
Apparently, the break in the case came after Chemirmir forced his way into a 91-year-old woman’s apartment in March, commanding her to ‘go to bed’ and ‘not to fight him’, according to an arrest affidavit. The woman was smothered with the pillow until she was unconscious and then was later robbed of her valuables by the serial killer. Unfortunately – for Chemirmir – the paramedics were able to revive the woman who then later told investigators that he had stolen a box which contained her expensive jewelry. Authorities were then able to identify Chemirmir from a license plate number. After finding him and following him for a few days, they were able to witness him throwing a jewelry box into a trash can. After retrieving it, investigators were then able to trace the box back to Chemirmir’s victim, according to the affidavit.
According to a statement given to police by one of Chemirmir’s victims, in order to gain entry to the apartment, he pretended to be a maintenance worker. After the victim told him that she didn’t need any work done, he pushed the victim from her walker and forced his way into the apartment before attempting to smother her with a pillow from her couch.
In true predatory fashion, Chemirmir – the former health care worker – used his ‘health care experience to his advantage, targeting and exploiting seniors’, Plano Police Chief Gregory W. Rushin told journalists.
Strangely, mainstream media outlets like CNN have decided not to cover the case.
So far, Fox News, ABC, and NBC have been the only mainstream media outlets to cover the unsettling story. However – in their coverage – NBC failed to mentin the fact that Chemirmir was an illegal alien.
In addition to the murder charges, Chemirmir is also being charged with being in the United States illegally.
