If you’ve watched more than five minutes of either of the Democratic debates last week, you know that each one of the Democratic presidential candidates cares a lot about illegal immigrants – perhaps more so than the American people.
On the second night of the debates, when asked by NBC’s Savannah Guthrie to raise a hand if their government plan would provide free health insurance to illegal immigrants – to the dismay of many Americans – all ten candidates on the stage raised their hands.
But this was only the latest in a series of displays by Democratic Party leadership which has shown the American public and the people of the world just how out-of-touch they are with ordinary Americans, and how ignorant they are of the political landscape of 2019.
The jaw-dropping display of moral grandstanding by Democratic presidential candidates comes on the heels of a recently released poll which revealed that the majority of Americans – surprise, surprise – don’t want to pay for the healthcare of illegal immigrants.
In fact, a new Rasmussen Reports poll which came out earlier in the month discovered that about 5-in-9 of likely U.S. voters oppose giving free – meaning paid for by American taxpayers – health care to illegal immigrants.
The poll surveyed 1,000 likely U.S. voters on their opinions concerning California’s latest law which grants full health care benefits to low-income illegal immigrants who’re younger than 26-years-old.
Approximately 5-in-9, or 55 percent of likely U.S. voters reported being opposed to providing illegal immigrants – even ones with the lowest incomes – with taxpayer-funded healthcare.
Conversely, a mere 31 percent of likely voters reported having support for such a welfare program.
Of the likely voters 40 to 64-years-old, almost 7-in-10 said that they were against taxpayer-funded health care for illegal immigrants in their state. Meanwhile, nearly 8-in-10 Republican voters reported being opposed to the radical plan.
Swing voters didn’t feel a whole lot differently. Around 6-in-10 of self-reported swing voters said that they opposed giving taxpayer-funded health care to illegals.
Even among Democrat likely voters, more than 3-in-10 said they opposed giving taxpayer-funded health care to illegal immigrants, while less than half said they supported the plan.
The majority of middle-class American voters were also staunchly opposed to the extreme plan.
Among likely voters who reported earning between $30,000 and $50,000, 56 percent said that they oppose plans to provide taxpayer-funded health care to illegal immigrants. Similarly, 62 percent of likely voters making between $50,000 and $100,000 also said that they oppose the plan that at fourteen Democratic presidential candidates have vowed to support.
This recent poll reveals an enormous disconnect between the people of the United States and the 2020 Democrat presidential primary candidates, most of whom have promised to give free health care – paid for by American taxpayers – to illegal immigrants.
Some estimate that giving free healthcare to all of the 11 to 22 million illegal immigrants in the country could cost the American taxpayer a stupefying $660 billion every decade. As of today, Americans are already subsidizing the healthcare of illegal aliens to the tune of $20 billion per year.
Of the candidates who’re vying to become the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, the following have vowed to provide free healthcare for illegal immigrants: former Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Kamala Harris, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Bernie Sanders, entrepreneur Andrew Yang, Senator Cory Booker, Representative Seth Moulton, Governor John Hickenlooper, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Senator Michael Bennet, Representative Swalwell, author Marianne Williamson, Senator Kristen Gillibrand, and former HUD Secretary Julian Castro.
The Democratic Party – the party standing up for the American worker, indeed….
