Long time frontrunner for the Democratic nomination, former VP Joe Biden has plunged in the polls. Most likely thanks to all of his ongoing gaffes, in the most recent polls, Biden is at 19%, a huge drop from the 32% he was posting just a month ago.
That 19% now effectively puts him in a three-way tie with Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, who topped the poll with 20% of support each from registered Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters across the country.
Support for Warren and Sanders rose since the last poll, up from 14% and 15%, respectively.
Biden lost support from voters across the board, including Democrats, black voters, men, and women. The drop in those areas were shifted almost equally to Warren and Sanders.
Support for the rest of the Democrats in the packed primary field remained generally intact, including New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, who’s still polling at just 1%.
This latest poll that saw Biden’s numbers plummet, was conducted from Aug. 16 to Aug. 20, and the results were based off 298 registered voters who identify as Democrats or lean left.
The poll has a plus/minus 5.7 percentage-point margin of error.
