Stop the Presses! Extra! Extra! Nothing new to report

During the congressional holiday break, the left-leaning press has focused … and focused … on two stories as if they were “breaking news.”  That actually called them that even though there was nothing … new.

The one story on an endless loop was the fact that House Speaker had not yet sent the Articles of Impeachment over to the Senate.  They would use terms such as “STILL has not sent …” to hype the story on a daily basis.

Hellooooooo!  Congress was on vacation.  There was no opportunity to send the Articles to the Senate until our federal legislators got back to business in Washington.  There was nothing new to report, but that did not stop the east coast media bubble from offering up old news as new.  It was not a daily standoff between President Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – as the press portrayed it – but a recess from any action at all.

The other story that carried on through the Christmas/Hanukah season was the supposed revelation that it was Trump who had ordered the temporary withholding of military aid to Ukraine until he was satisfied that it would not be used to line the pockets of corrupt oligarchs – as was the case in past money that flowed into the Ukrainian treasury.

Of course, Democrats and the left-wing propaganda press spun Trump’s involvement of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, as an effort to smear potential campaign opponents – even though Hunter was being paid an irrationally high compensation for serving at the top of one of the major corrupt enterprises in Ukraine headed by one of those corrupt oligarchs.

The non-story that was politically hyped had to do with an email from  Michael Duffey, a White House official in the Office of Management and Budget, to the Department of Defense regarding the authority for holding up the financial aid.  In it Duffey stated,  “Clear direction from POTUS to continue to hold.”

The email was hyped over and over … and over again … as some sort of smoking gun – proof that President Trump was the man behind the hold on the money.  For the Democrats and their publicity operation – otherwise known as the east coast news media – this was an “aha” moment.

There is a problem, however.  There was nothing new – as in nada, gar nichts, hnyero – in those sensationalized reports.  It was reported to have been a POTUS decision from the get-go.  Folks testified to that during the Democrats partisan impeachment inquiry/hearing.  In fact, Trump admitted as much on several occasions.  That was never the issue.  It is the “why” that is at the center of the political controversy.

So, why would the Democrats pepper the media mine with fool’s gold?  It may have been to give false credence to their claim that access to White House documents would yield a wealth of incriminating evidence against Trump.  It was to bolster their weak impeachment case.

In fact, the release of a bunch of hitherto unseen documents produced nothing incriminating against Trump.  It was yet another dry hole drilled by impeachment-obsessed Democrats and promoted as news by cronies in the Fourth Estate.  Rather than face that reality, they simply do what they do in such cases – make up sh*t.

So, there ‘tis.
