Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard accused Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot of “blatant anti-white racism” Friday for only granting one-on-one interviews to “black and brown” reporters.
“Mayor Lightfoot’s blatant anti-white racism is abhorrent,” Gabbard, a fellow Democrat, said. “I call upon President Biden, Kamala Harris, and other leaders of our county—of all races—to join me in calling for Mayor Lightfoot’s resignation.”
“Our leaders must condemn all racism, including anti-white,” Gabbard, who is Samoan, added.
The Chicago mayor did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation. Lightfoot announced earlier this week that she is “prioritizing media requests from POC reporters” as she commemorates “the occasion of the two-year anniversary of my inauguration as mayor of this great city.”
“This is an imbalance that needs to change,” Lightfoot tweeted. “Chicago is a world-class city. Our local media should reflect the multiple cultures that comprise it.”
“We must be intentional about doing better,” she continued. “I believed that when running for office. I stand on this belief now. It’s time for the newsrooms to do better and build teams that reflect the make-up of our city.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the DCNF regarding Gabbard’s call for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to condemn Lightfoot’s “blatant anti-white racism.”
Just a small example of where race based divisional politics is headed. Although not true of most ethnic minorities some of the more radical of them aren’t interested in equity bit more of a replacement ideology. This is why many are concerned with issues such as critical race theory and BLM. More often than not it appears to many that usurping and dismissing whites whites from everything including history to any and all future prominent positions both in political offices and media. This isn’t about equity in many eyes. It’s about taking down anything that has to do with Caucasians and that’s not going to fly in our country. I often listen to white liberals beat the drum of racial equality without looking further than the end of their own nose. We can not blindly accept all concepts based on the fact that it seeks to improve life for people of color. Of course all logical people want equity in our nation for all citizens who live within our laws. We are a nation of laws anf without them we aren’t a nation at all but I think it’s important to remember that we all want equitable treatment. This requires a smattering of common sense and an understanding of what over sixty percent of the population needs as well. If the largest segment of population begins to feel marginalized they are going to begin to resist the movement towards the greater goals of equity for all. Throughout human history the tendency to push too far and too hard has always created a backlash. Humans who garner power with a certain concept tend to become blind to all else and perhaps lose focus particularly when they can demonize and discredit what they believe to be their adversary. Power through politics can reduce what was a grand idea and make the issue about something other than its original intentions. Power had the ability to corrupt simply because humans are fallible and often have the tendency to fall into a pattern of tunnel vision. We need to keep our perspective and understand that inclusivity is the goal here and not exclusivity. Otherwise we will only further the division we are intending to rid ourselves of. I fear the liberal white members of our society have yet to understand these things. They seem to believe that somehow if they join on the message they will be accepted and included in the end results. When political leaders such as Lightfoot’s actions begin to appear one sided those actions could be construed as reverse racism and that doesn’t sit well with many Caucasians who see their entire history being wiped from public eyes. Cancel culture isn’t an inclusive concept. It demonizes white Americans and only serves to further the rift between white and black Americans. This creates a feeling of distrust from white Americans who in fact have no hatred for others based on skin tone. In fact when whites hear and see on a daily basis cries of racism on seemingly innocuous issues the mantra loses any real credibility. In the end we all must live together and work together and the constant incessant cries of outrage only serves the politics of those who would use divide and conquer tactics. I’d those who are attempting to create real change aren’t more selective in their message they are dooming their message to just another failed attempt at equality. We’ve been down this road many times and some changes have been made but to exempt the majority of a populace will never bring about harmony and peaceful race relations. Perhaps certain media outlets and political forces need to do a little self introspection before they lose the support of the liberal whites in our country. Otherwise we are just going through the motions and will never obtain the goal of equality. In my opinion as with many other whites race needs to be dropped from the conversation entirely. There are no laws that apply to black or white and the past is the past. We need to look ahead through the eyes that see humans without the lens of color.
Why don’t these people realize that they are lucky to be here. They could still be in Africa being eaten by the animals.
They were made slaves in Africa, before being sold. 10 times more were sold eastward. Slavery has been in Africa for thousands of years and millions of Africans are still enslaved currently. If only the left knew this.
