FDA Official Says Lab Leaks “Happen All of the Time”

In a shocking admission, a former high-level FDA official says that lab leaks — like the one that could have caused the coronavirus outbreak – “happen all the time.”

Former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said during a recent interview on the Sunday talk shows that accidental lab leaks “happen all the time” amid mounting concern regarding the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gottlieb expressed concern about safety protocols at research labs in the U.S. and abroad during an appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” The former commissioner said a conclusive determination on where the pandemic originated was critical to prevent deadly outbreaks in the future.

“These kinds of lab leaks happen all the time, actually,” Gottlieb said. “Even here in the United States, we’ve had mishaps, and in China, the last six known outbreaks of SARS-1 have been out of labs, including the last known outbreak, which was a pretty extensive outbreak that China initially wouldn’t disclose that it came out of a lab.”

Gottlieb’s comments come as calls for further investigation of the pandemic’s origins have heightened in recent days. Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal reported three researchers at China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology displayed symptoms severe enough to seek hospital treatment with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 in late 2019. That has prompted even earlier naysayers like Dr. Anthony Fauci to admit that a lab leak could be possible, and that possibility should be investigated.

President Biden said the intelligence community has yet to determine whether the pandemic began after human contact with infected animals or because of a lab accident. Officials are expected to deliver an updated report on their conclusion within the next few months.

Biden has pledged to make any relevant findings from their investigation public.

During the CBS interview, Gottlieb called on officials to view the pandemic and lab safety as matters of national security, given the impact of COVID-19.

“It’s important to understand what the possibility is that this came out of a lab so we can focus more international attention on trying to get better inventories around these labs, what they’re doing, better security, make sure they’re properly built,” he added. “We need to also look at public health through the lens of national security. This was an asymmetric harm to the United States. COVID hurt the U.S. a lot more than it hurt many other countries.”

  1. What nationality and Country borders China and is being hit the hardest by this genetically altered disease? Does the black race seem to be getting hit harder with this disease? When you genetically alter disease, you weaponize it. Do the old and infirm tax the monetary system of a country? Are you awake yet?

  2. Fire, take cash away, shun, no visas ever, no citizenship. Prison for life. But our money is like gravy, too these USA educated communists,. Ask feinstein, big mouth, pelosi, they sleep with these red Chinese communist, and bidens gang sleeps with the Europe communist mafias

  3. LISTEN UP….IF There is a PROBLEM with LAB LEAKS than the LABS Need to Be DESTROYED. The RISKS are GREATER than the BENEFITS. SOMEONE Has to Be HeldACCOUNTABLE. Do NOT Let ANYONE Get AWAY with MURDER. From SamuraiQueen.😩😩😩

  4. This was no “accident”, this was a deliberate leak of a very serious virus to destroy America. China wants to rule us all!

  5. I worked at a research lab dealing with insect pests. We had incidents. Minor things like somebody grabbing the wrong jug of chemical, colonies of specimens dying due to contamination of their feed, I myself got sprayed in the eyes with a chemical. My own belief has always been that some low level worker, somebody who was cleaning the bat cages for example, caught the virus and became “patient zero”, the vector that spread it to co workers, family, friends.
