Before you could say “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”, or even finish reading articles on Elon Musk’s shiny new purchase of Twitter, to help combat free speech around the world, of course, the Biden administration created a very well organized, well-thought-out department to combat “misinformation”.
So, they say.
Announced on April 27th, the new Disinformation Governance Board was created by Biden’s Department of Homeland Security, chaired by an “expert” from the Woodrow Wilson Center, Nina Jankowicz who will be leading the board.
Who Is Nina?
Nina Jankowicz is no stranger to the spotlight, in fact, she’s a self-proclaimed expert on the Information War and how to be a woman. Among other areas of expertise, she has advised governments, international organizations, tech companies and has testified in front of Congress.
Most recently, she began her singing career.
Jankowicz holds a Master’s degree from the Center for Eurasian, Russian, and East European Studies at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and can speak Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, and English.
The new board leader doesn’t come without controversy. She has been known to spread misinformation claims regarding the British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s discredited dossier, and then downplayed the drama around Biden’s son. Is this a good start to combating bad information…?
