It certainly is a good thing that President Joe Biden put Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of the trouble at the US Southern Border, because, according to the obviously delusional Veep, the “border is secure!”

Biden’s lapdog and so-called “border Czar” served up another helping of word salad this past Sunday while insisting that the US-Mexico frontier is “secure” — despite the number of illegal migrant arrests setting a pace to surpass a staggering 2 million for the first time ever later this month.

In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Harris admitted the immigration system “still needs to be fixed” before blaming the Trump administration for the border surge that has happened since President Biden took office.

“The border is secure, but we also have a broken immigration system, in particular, over the last four years before we came in, and it needs to be fixed,” Harris told host Chuck Todd in Houston.

“We’re going to have 2 million people cross this border for the first time ever. You’re confident this border’s secure?” Todd followed.

The Veep, who was put in charge of border issues by Biden 18 months ago, descended into incoherence as a response.

“We have a secure border in that that is a priority for any nation, including ours and our administration,” Harris insisted. “But there are still a lot of problems that we are trying to fix given the deterioration that happened over the last four years.

“We also have to put into place a law and a plan for a pathway for citizenship for the millions of people who are here and are prepared to do what is legally required to gain citizenship,” Harris added before trying to shift the blame away from the Biden administration, saying: “We don’t have that in place because people are playing politics in a state like this [Texas] and in Congress.”

As you might imagine, Republicans were outraged by Harris’ ridiculous comments.

“Nearly 5 million illegal aliens have crossed our border under Biden’s watch,” tweeted Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) on Monday. “This is the largest figure in American history. The border is not secure.”

“When VP Harris says our border is secure, she’s lying on behalf of this White House,” chimed in Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.).

Migrant arrest numbers have almost doubled under the Biden administration and have already exceeded last year’s record, according to the latest Customs and Border Protection data.

Meanwhile, 748 migrants have died attempting to cross into the US this fiscal year, Department of Homeland Security border data shows. The grim new record is up from the 557 deaths recorded in 2021, according to the data.

Lawmakers on both sides of the political aisle have blamed the Biden administration’s policies for the surge in border-crossers since the president took office in January 2021.

Even fellow Democrats, while maybe not sharing the GOP view that her recent comments border on insanity, agree that her job on the border crisis has been lackluster at best.

Her Democratic colleague, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), revealed in December that he had given up on trying to work with her on border-related issues.

“I say this very respectfully to her: I moved on,” Cuellar told the New York Times. “She was tasked with that job; it doesn’t look like she’s very interested in this, so we are going to move on to other folks that work on this issue.”
