President Biden on Wednesday spoke about a potential matchup between former President Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). The two are widely considered to be the two potential clients most likely to fight to win the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election. Regarding this Biden said during a press conference that it would be “fun” to watch the two compete against each other. This statement was made during a press conference in which he discussed the outcome of the 2022 midterm elections.

For the past few months, Trump has repeatedly teased a potential campaign run. On Monday he also said during a rally that there would be a “big announcement” coming on Mov. 15 from his Mar-a-Lago estate. Many believe that this will be the moment that Trump chooses to officially announce that he is placing another bid to win the White House.

However, midterm election night did not turn out to be what Republicans had hoped for, that is unless they were DeSantis. DeSantis won his own election by close to 20 percentage points. That meant he won around 1.5 million votes. This performance, along with the overall wave that came over Florida has led to many wondering if DeSantis is truly considering taking on Trump for the GOP primary.

In recent weeks Trump had mocked DeSantis calling him “Ron DeSanctimonious”. DeSantis has not yet announced any plans for the 2024 presidential election.
