A student at Proctor High School in Utica, New York was jumped from behind on Monday by a fellow student who repeatedly stabbed him. Amazingly, the victim was able to protect himself from further stabbings until teachers came and disarmed the attacker and broke off the attack.
The stabbing was filmed by students who did not try to physically intervene in the attack as the student was armed with a knife. However, they repeatedly urged the attacker to drop the knife.
The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The school has metal detectors.
Local Police and Utica City School’s Public Statement
Here is the joint statement by the Utica Police Department and Utica City School District:
On October 31, 2022 at approximately 10:50AM a stabbing assault occurred at Proctor High School.
At that time Proctor teaching staff were notified of a fight occurring in the first floor hallway. As they approached the altercation, they noticed that one party, a 17 year old male, was actively stabbing the victim, an 18 year old male. The teachers took immediate action, without regard for their safety, and attempted to separate the two parties. The teachers grabbed the suspect and forcibly disarmed him, and held him until security staff arrived. The suspect was then immediately removed from the scene and brought to a secure area.
immediate medical care was provided to the victim, who was suffering from multiple stab wounds to his back and hands. School nursing staff then provided aid until the Utica Fire Department arrived and transported to the victim to a local hospital. Thankfully, his injuries are not considered life threatening at this time.
The Utica Police Department Criminal Investigations Division and Juvenile Aid Unit are handling the investigation. Charges will be released as soon as the investigation allows.
We are aware that there were several student witnesses to the incident, as well as cell phone videos that were taken during the altercation. We ask that if any of those students wish to come forward to with that evidence, to please contact your Assistant Principal or counselor and they will contact the Utica Police Department. Additionally, if any student is traumatized by the incident, please inform the same officials and any and all assistance will be provided to you.
For the remainder of the week, the Proctor High School campus will remain closed. Students will not be allowed to exit the building during free periods and for lunch. This process will be re-evaluated next week.
The Utica Police Department will have an increased presence both within the school building and outside.
We understand that many questions will be raised throughout this process, and we will be as transparent with the answers as we can. The safety and security of our students and staff remains the number one priority, and we will never stop striving to ensure that happens.

The student who was attacked is a Karen Refugee.
What, pray tell, is a Karen refugee?? Who cares?? A kid is attacked by a knife stabbing crazy kid and the classmates stand and take pictures! Nice ! I’m impressed! And then police “ask” if any of the photographers “wish” to share their pictures they would appreciate!!! There is something wrong with this picture. Contrary to what some in this country believe, a student is a minor and “ should” have respect for authority, i.e. teacher, police officer, and do as told. Ironically, the whole atmosphere now is “let little Johnny or Jane do as they please.” Don’t offend anyone as it’s always a racist issue! If a kid is wielding a weapon then they deserve to be disciplined in any manner to get him or her under control! Don’t care who kid is or what age! Mind included! I always told my childrens teachers at the first of the year, every year – – if you have a problem with my child, you take care of the problem at school, but I want to be informed as my child will be disciplined appriately at home also! Long as there are no rules and regulations allowed or followed, you can continue to expect the chaos and hateful crime ridden climate we live in!
This attacker is most likely known to local authorities on a county ,state and federal level . A registered democrat who spells on a third grade level . Abandoned by his daddy and furious because Asians reflect his self loathing about his own IQ.

So because it was an Asian kid they tried to kill or harm it’s okay as little Jonny was black. Why you running all over trying to cover the fact that at the end it was the Asian kid (sorry don’t know name) who a black man blasted hard to the ground. And little Johny red shirt didn’t get crap done to him. Take out all race cards on this and let it be kid on kid. This was messed up and the fact no adult asked what was going on when clearly looking around you knew. Plus, I bet it wasn’t the first time those rats did this to him and why he knew about the knife.
